Hardware & Resources Based on Your Needs

First Year Engineering

Engaging students in applied engineering from the beginning is essential. Many of our university partners have adopted the SparkFun Inventor’s Kit 4.0 (SIK 4.0) to provide a hands-on approach while teaching serious engineering concepts (both hardware and programming) and skills.

SparkFun Inventor's Kit v4.0

The SIK 4.0 offers limitless possibilities and provides a logical, quick-gratification progression...going from blinking an LED, to using temperature sensors, to building RC and autonomous robots. Everything needed is included. In addition, the SIK:

  • Keeps students engaged in engineering principles with hands-on activities and projects
  • Ensures students with diverse backgrounds get up to speed with circuits and programming exercises
  • Prepares students to fully participate in the engineering curriculum
  • Provides open-ended challenges that encourage students to continue tinkering on their own

Pre-College Engineering Education Outreach

Universities and K-12 collaborations for engineering education are becoming commonplace - and are at the forefront of innovative STEM implementations. SparkFun has developed a large library of resources and hardware to support K-12. Visit the K-12 website to explore resources.

The micro:bit

The micro:bit is being adopted in K-12 schools across the nation. SparkFun has developed an entire micro:bit ecosystem - it is a great way to get creative, connected and coding with the micro:bit. An online experiment guide walks users through completing 12 circuits using the included parts.
